Riley

Riley is home. She and Hattie got along great, right out of the chute. More photos tomorrow.

Land Rover soft top everything I hoped for

Since switching from the hardtop to the mesh top a couple of weeks ago, I haven’t been able to drive the truck as much as I hoped. Last couple of weeks have been cold and wet. With warmer weather finally here, let’s take a ride. (Just 2 min) I’m loving the open sight lines. And it’s not as loud as the ear plugs suggest.

O. Kay Henderson: On the campaign trail. Again.

Tonight’s PBS Newshour featured a segment that included an interview with my friend and former co-worker, O. Kay Henderson. I’ve known Kay for 32 years and — coincidently — she’s mentioned in 32 posts on this blog. I think I can safely say there is no one alive today that knows more about politics in Iowa than Ms. Henderson. It’s the only job she’s every had. She started covering politics while she was in college and came to work for Radio Iowa when she graduated and has been doing it ever since. [watch on YouTube]

James Bond Apparently Drives an Old Land Rover Series III in Retirement

“Last week, production on the 25th James Bond movie kicked off, and the first set photos from Jamaica show Daniel Craig’s retired James Bond driving around in an old Land Rover Series III. It’s unclear how much screen time this old Land Rover will get, and whether or not it will be involved in any action scenes. The Series III was very slow, to say the least, with an ancient four-cylinder engine, so Bond wouldn’t stand much of a chance.” (Jalopnik)

Washing the house before staining

This is Bob. Bob and his boys have been repairing the cedar siding on our 30 year-old-home. The woodpeckers have been eating us up! He’s washing off decades of grime before putting on fresh stain.

He’s about 30 feet up on a wet, slanted roof. Refuses to use a safety harness because it slows him down. I can’t watch.
