In 2016 Barb and I paid $1600 for this professional grade treadmill. It’s been in a dark little windowless room in the basement ever since and I’ve used it numerous times over the years. But having joined the YMCA recently, with access to newer better machines, it was time to find it a new home. My good friend Paul came by to pick it up and take it home to his mother (who is excited about having it.)
The monster weighs 269 pounds.
Mechanical genius Paul was able to get it through a couple of doorways and up into the bed of his pick up truck.

Dr. John Middleton
It was just a few months after I got my Land Rover that I met John Middleton. Someone told me he had a collection of Rovers so I tracked him down and he invited me up to Columbia. In the ensuing years John was an invaluable resource whenever my Land Rover had a problem. Even joined the crew to help me take the top off and on.
Today I took the hoop kit (I used for just one summer) up to John’s farm and to see some of his recent acquisitions. During my brief visit I mentioned the MU vet school where John is a professor. He said something about his duties changing since we last talked so when I got home I asked Perplexity what it could find.
A Man and His Love for a Vintage Bus

Dan Arnall, Allen Hammock (The Cyber Twins)
I have posted on Learfield’s early adventures with the internett and the crucial role played by Dan Arnall and Allen Hammock. I’ve stayed in touch with Allen but not so much with Dan. The “Cyber Twins” got together recently and shared the image above. Allen’s career path has been in technology while Dan has made his mark in journalism.
Dan is currently with NBC News, where he serves as Vice President of News Standards. He is based in New York. Continue reading
