The nice man driving this beauty told me his 17-year-old son and the young man’s grandfather restored this 1955 Jeep. I’ve never seen a restored vehicle this… flawless. It was almost too perfect.

From the shop of Paul Bandelier: “Essentially, every part had to be created or custom fit to work. Virtually no easy bolt-on equipment. The engine is a new crate motor from Cummins called the R2.8. It’s a pretty popular re-power option for a lot of vintage trucks.” Here’s a great video of the Commando on (and off) the road.

After listening to me talk about the mythical Land Rover for 15 months, some of boys at the coffee shop were wondering if it was real so I’ve been eager to get a parking spot out front.

That sweet Jeep belongs to one of the regulars. Did the restoration himself. Not a military model as it turns out. A civilian CJ (1947) that was made for the Corps of Engineers.

Roxor

Spotted this sweetie as I left the coffee shop this morning. The owner said it’s a 1946 Willys Jeep. The first non-military Jeep made after WWII.
