NETWORK: “Television is not the truth…”

“When the 12th largest company in the world controls the most awesome propaganda force in the whole goddamned world….” This scene from the movie Network (1976) is the reason the Academy gave Peter Finch the Best Actor award posthumously. The “Mad Prophet of the Airways” rants how it was, is, and always will be.

It’s gratifying to see that others remember this film and recognize its relevance in 2006.

Harvey Tettlebaum intro for Karl Rove

It’s hard to imagine Karl Rove fears any man, but we now learn it was once Jefferson City attorney Harvey Tettlebaum. Harvey is president of the Republican National Lawyers Association and was given the honor of introducing Rove when he spoke to the National Press Club (?) last week.

Disclosure: Harvey is the senior partner in the Jefferson City office of Husch & Eppenberger, and has been Barb’s mentor and “rabbi” since she became an attorney.

Chimps Monkey Joke

Some people have a weakness for porn videos. For me, it’s talking chimps. I’d love to know how this classic bit of humor (video) came to be made. Think about it… someone had to make the little costumes. Build the little set. Spend god knows how many hours shooting and re-shooting this scene. You know it had to be a tedious frustrating process. As funny as this clip is, the out-takes had be funnier.
