Barb rubs elbows with celebs
If you write a nice check (for a good cause) you get your picture taken with the celebrities. (Barb 2nd from the left; the lady in the middle is Pam, a high school friend).
The artists appearing with Sheryl Crow were pretty much unknown to me. I knew their fathers but haven’t followed their careers. And they play country music. “Redneck Country” in the case of Noll Billings, singer for Blackjack Billy. Looks like David Nail had a #1 song in 2012. They all have wikipedia pages if you’re curious. I assume it’s damned hard to make it in the music business so it does seem noteworthy that four kids from a small (10,000) town in southeast Missouri managed to do so well.
The president and my First Lady
Earlier this year, Barb attended an event for President Obama in St. Louis. I’m pretty sure you only got a hug if you wrote a check but it’s still a nice picture.
I’m not thrilled with everything our president has done (or not done) but if I were, someone else would be pissed, so…
I wish him well.
Lucy and Barb

Lucy –the junior pup at our house– is extremely camera shy. If you pick up something that even resembles a camera, she runs under the bed (her sanctuary). I thought I could fool her with the iPhone. No way.
But I got this shot (with iPhone) last night. Hardly a great photo but I like the monitor glow on Barb and you can just spot Lucy’s nose peeking out from beneath the table.
For some reason it appears I’m about five floors up but it’s just one.
30th Wedding Anniversary
Thirty years ago I was roaming nervously throughout Dr. Miltenberger’s home. Waiting for Rev. Harlan to show up and make an honest man of me. Combo Halloween Party/Reception followed (photo). Barb is still my best friend and I’m counting on another 30 years with her.
Barb is still the one
I sent my sweety some flowers for Valentine’s Day (she took this very good photo with her Treo) and she sent me a lovely balloon bouquet and two pounds of M&M’s. A little while later someone noticed a tag hanging from one of the larger balloons and we were treated to a little song.
How Barb Spent Her Summer
For those wondering what Barb does when she’s not cooking and scrubbing, we refer you to the American Health Lawyers Association’s Guide to Legal Issues in Life-Limiting Conditions. Barb is a co-leader of the task force which produced the guide and a teleconference that explained it (“The Role of Family and Health Lawyers in End-of-Life Decisions”). It’s all abaout “the important legal and practical issues that arise in the care of individuals who face a life-limiting condition.” I think “life-limiting condition” means “you’re dying.” [News release]
