Land Rover vs. MINI

Keeping the MINI around for a bit until I’m confident the The Truck can be my daily drive. This photo shows just how small the Land Rover is. I’ll bet there’s more space inside the MINI. Longer wheelbase. But the center of gravity is very noticeable on turns. The contrast in driving experience is dramatic.

  1. That’s the popular wisdom, Bob, but I don’t plan to keep the MINI. As the boys in Vegas say, I’m “all in” on the truck. I have too much time, money and psychic energy in the Land Rover to consign it to a garage for the occasional weekend drive. It would be like having a dog you only played with on the weekend. No, I’m gonna sell the MINI in the spirit of viking warriors who burned their boats on the beach. Will this strategy work long term? Only time will tell. I’ll rent when I need to take a road trip but I’ve been doing that anyway.

It’s hotter than hell inside the thing and will, I’m certain, be cold in the winter. So it will be difficult to find anyone who wants to ride with me. But so far I’m having a blast.

  2. I’d assumed you’d be keeping the Mini for longer drives etc. and you’d just be a 2-car man. Plus in the summer you might appreciate the A/C sometimes.
