Fez #6: John Wells

And then there were six:

JW"I hereby humbly submit my application for the Order of the Fez, or OF.  I recently learned about what IOOF was, and how joining civic groups was once a popular practice. Not only was this a great social activity, but resulted in a more informed and involved citizenry, with positive impacts on charity.  If selected to become a member, I shall be pleased to be working towards bringing civic involvement back into the American mainstream.  God bless." -- John Wells

John (aka JW) --like the other five members to date-- is a blogger. As I look at John's application photo above, it occurs to me that the photos perfectly match the tone of the respective blogs. A stranger could read any post at random and --with 100% accuracy-- match the photo with the blog author. This is just one more example of Fez JuJu, sometimes referred to as "fezorocity."

Welcome, John. And try to relax a little.

Comments

Hereby let us notice a salutary trend: application requests that prominently use the word "hereby."

"Hereby" is a word that lends weight -- dare I say, gravitas -- to any statement, no matter how ludicrous, rancorous, or superfluous. It is fitting for an organization like The Order of the Fez to sprinkle its communications, both formal and informal, with such a word.

Who are you guys?

  • If you really want to know, just start reading from the first post to the latest. (If you are lazy or a slow reader, you can just read the first post.) But The Order of the Fez is greater than the sum of our blog.

You can purchase your fez anywhere (or mug a Shriner) but we recommend Fez-o-rama.
