Voter Number One

November 4, 2008

in Current Affairs

Original plan was to roll out at 4 a.m. and get to the polling place by 4:30. Couldn’t sleep so wound up getting a good spot by arriving at 2:30 a.m. Didn’t see a soul for a couple of hours, but by 5:30 a.m. a line had formed.

I am proud to say I was voter #1 at my place. Whatever happens, I’m glad there was an election and I got to take part.

Update: Very short video of the line as I left at 6:08 a.m.

Glad I wasn’t the only one that had a hard time going to sleep last night.
I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve again. Haven’t felt that way for a long time about a candidate. It was nice.

I can’t get Phil Collins out of my head singing:
“I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord.”
It is an honor to be a part of this election.

You know, that just wouldn’t happen in the UK. If people had to wait more than a minute to vote, they just wouldn’t. As for being there at 2:30 am nutter !

Hey…WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
I wasn’t even allowed to use a cell phone while I was OUTSIDE IN LINE at my polling place.
The mean election lady said “no cell phones, you’re bothering people”. Now hey, I know I bother people and the cell phone is just an innocent bystander.
But now I see that you carried a CAMERA and a VIDEO CAMERA, no less, into the voting booth? Are you serious?
The horrrrrrrrors!
