Recession? What recession?
Someone forgot to tell the good people of Tulsa about the recession. Or maybe it just hasn't reached Oklahoma yet.
My frugal brother took us to the Woodland Hills Mall to cash in his chick-fil-a coupons. While he stood in line, I took a swing around the food court. Bidness was booming.

If it's 108 outside, they could all be congregated in the AC at the merchants' expense.

The heat probably played a big role. The Tulsa economy is still heavily tied to the oil industry in many respects, even if very little oil comes out of the ground nearby. Bartlesville just 42 miles away has had problems with housing shortages as the Phillips R&D campus has been resurrected in the last few years, and Tulsa is home to a major Sunoco refinery. Their rock bottom cost of living helps immensely as well. Wouldn't be a bad place to live if they could only do something about those wicked thunderstorms.....
