A couple of weeks ago I was having lunch with Chuck “The Blog Machine” Zimmerman and mentioned that we have quite a few bloggers at Learfield. He thought that was neat and –since I helped some of them get started— so did I. To highlight this fact, I created a Learfield blogroll. Today word reached me that some on the list felt they had been dissed. That I didn’t think they were good enough to be on the “A-list.”
The fact is, I don’t read all of the blogs written by my co-workers. It’s not that they aren’t good bloggers, many of them are. I’m just not interested in the subject. But I’ve added them here because I think it’s good for our company to have folks who understand this…whatever it is. And I want to encourage that.
But since it’s just us girls having a sleep-over and doing each other’s hair… I gotta tell you that having a set of golf clubs doesn’t mean you get to play with Tiger Woods. You get to play on the same big, digital course but you (and I) have to blog long an hard to be considered in the same league with Dave Winer and Doc Searls and David Weinberger. Might never happen. But if you post often and post well, people will read what you have to say. And maybe link to your blog. Even add you to their blogroll. But always remember, real bloggers don’t whine.
