Herman Miller Aeron chair

Hermanmiller
I’ve done something rash. Another impulse purchase. No, not an Apple product this time. That comes next week (or whenever) when the new MacBooks arrive. I popped for a Herman Miller Aeron chair. Here’s the back-story.

Barb has been having some repetitive stress pain from a really shitty ergonomic combination of chair and desk. It got me to thinking about how much time we spend in an office chair in front of a computer. Six, eight hours a day? So I pulled the trigger. Stay tuned.

  1. I’d like to congratulate you as well! I’ve been an Aeron owner for the last 2 years and I have never been able to complain about the price because the way that its helped my back has been incredible. I ordered from this website that is FABULOUS, no joke. It’s called officedesigns.com and they made it totally worth the experience. It’s true though, you really do sit in the chair for a majority of the day, why not make it comfortable? If you’re really concerned about the money, you could always go to preownedaerons.com and buy one thats barely been used.

  2. Congratulations on your chair purchase. I recently got my own überchair, which was also stupidly expensive.
It was not an Aeron– It’s a “Lifeform Chair”– but I suspect it is about the only ergonomic chair in the world which is designed for people of my girth and stature. Custom-built for me in Quebéc after being ordered from a very nice boutique store where I was the only customer for the entire duration of the transaction.
When I tell people this, they cannot fathom why anybody would spend that much on a chair until I point out that:
    1) I spend anywhere from 8 to 18 hours a day sitting in it, and
    2) I spent way more than that on the computer(s) I’m sitting in front of.
    3) How much I might alternatively spend on doctors, massage therapy, chiropractors, acupuncture, etc. to repair the damage done by inadequate seating.
    4) How much more revenue I might generate at said workspace if I am not tired and uncomfortable all the time.
Definitely worth the investment. However I did not spring for the leather option.
