Okay, that won’t work… but Aquatic Center? Ah, it makes me homesick. From a news release on Governor Matt Blunt’s website:
“Governor Matt Blunt announced today a state grant that will assist the city of Kennett in the economic revival of its downtown area including construction of a new swimming pool made possible by donations from singer-songwriter and Kennett native Sheryl Crow. The city proposes to make several improvements to downtown buildings and facades, sidewalks, lighting, and parking lots. Underground utilities will also be upgraded. These improvements will complement the new Sheryl Crow Aquatic Center, currently under construction.”
While searching for more on this story, I found this thought-provoking poll on the papacy of John Paul 2 on the Daily Dunklin Democrat website. My vote (average) was #317. (This is only funny if you grew up in Kennett)
How do you think Pope John Paul II will be remembered in history?
A. One of the greatest: 71.6% (227 votes)
B. Average: 16.7% (53 votes)
C. Fair: 5.7% (18 votes)
D. One of the worst: 6.0% (19 votes)
